Sanam representing Nepal at a Global Stage
We can hardly express the emotions we’re feeling right now. Witnessing a child’s progress and seeing the community come together in appreciation is a true roller coaster of emotions. That’s exactly how all of us at Sano Paila are feeling today.
Sanam Shrestha, 16, from our Sano Ghar in Birgunj, is set to participate in the 26th Asian Youth Chess Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from June 9th. Competing in the U-18 category, Sanam will represent Nepal among youths from more than 35 countries. She secured her spot in the international championship by winning a gold medal at the National Chess Championship held in Birgunj last month. Sanam is now ready to showcase her extraordinary skills and strive for medals in the upcoming event.
Today, in a formal ceremony at Moonlight Secondary School, the community gathered to bid her farewell and convey their best wishes for victory. The event was chaired by Principal Shyam KC, with Rajeshman Singh, Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, as the Chief Guest.
The event saw strong attendance from local community stakeholders. Join us in wishing Sanam, all the very best for the upcoming championship.
